I’m not sure when it happened, but one day I woke up and realized I was not feeling well, physically, emotionally, financially even spiritually.
I knew at the core of my unhappiness and sorrow, was my health. A doctor referred to it as my “soma”. My physical body. Many famous people have mentioned that there is no way your mental house can be in order if your physical house is not in order. Your body feeds your mind.
So, why PNW Runner? Do I like to run? No. Do I know much about the running community, eh, a little. Honestly, I am probably picking the PNW Running niche is probably not a good idea, but I’m a bit stubborn. When I think something is a good idea, it usually is.
I worked for a friend at a race and I noticed something. It was 7 in the morning in Kirkland in March, it was the Kirkland Shamrock Run and it was down at Juanita Beach. What I noticed was that even though it was early on a Sunday, cold as hell, all the runners were smiling and happy. Everyone was HAPPY. Besides one guy working that the booth, good energy was EVERYWHERE. I was drawn to it. I then started helping on other runs and started the learn the business, marketing and promotion side of the house.
Why am I doing this, the PNW RUNNER? Well, I woke up on the wrong side of 55 and thought to myself, is the life I am living right now what I want? Is THIS what I have been hoping for? No.
Happiness is a huge deal to me. I have been happy most of my life, however I have found that that in the last few decades of my life, my happiness has left me. My light has left me.
I helped a friend of mine market his coffee shop here in Bothell and kept in touch with him long after. They guy had the kind of life I wanted he was active, had multiple businesses and was driven. Even though he was older, he had not lost his quest for happiness. PNW Runner is my quest for happiness. I want to love running. I am going to work at loving to exercise. Let’s see how this goes.
